Hawaiian and New Zealand fishing legend Louie "The Fish" lost his battle with cancer on Saturday. He was a great guy and a good friend he will be missed.
Louie made Hawaiian fish hooks and carved fish necklaces. He played harmonica and was credited with the guy who brought beads to lake Taupo in New Zealand. He was a great guide with a passion for trout and bonefish. He crewed on Black Bart out of Kona for a while. He was a supporter of sustainability in our fisheries and a distrust of government management of our fisheries. He had an endless amount of hilarious stories. Funeral services will be on October 24th in Kaneohe.
Never met him but he was always on my Facebook feed, funny guy with what seemed to be a good family and a ton of friends.
Loved to talk fishing, always with a story, loved his music too.
