Please help a wounded warrior pay for her service dog.

April joined Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing in December 2019 and has just recently moved to Rochester, WA, from the East Coast. Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing is a national organization dedicated to physically and emotionally rehabilitating disabled veterans through fly fishing and its associated activities. April is a disabled veteran after serving over 17 years in the United States Army (active and reserve) and was medically retired in 2014. She has PTSD as well as a leg injury which causes her to fall regularly.

She has recently acquired Kinga, an English Labrador Retriever, through Cascade Service Dogs in Olympia, WA. Kinga is trained to help April with many tasks including gait, assistance in getting up from a fall, getting help if she cannot get up, medication reminders, as well as general overall support. PHWFF can teach April how to fish and surround her with support to help her cope with PTSD, but we are not able to provide funding for a service dog.

Any assistance you can provide, no matter how big or small, is gratefully appreciated. All funds raised will go to Cascade Service Dogs, a 501c3, so your contribution is tax-deductible (TAX ID 45-5513178). Any funds raised beyond the $7500 fee will go towards the fee of other dogs provided to veterans.

You can find the GoFundMe page here.

Thanks for posting/sharing.

As of this morning the donation pool was only at $695.

I have no affiliation to this group or the veteran in need but as fly fishers we spend a bunch to pursue our leisure activity.

I’m guessing each of us could donate a little something to help this person get a dog that will help her simply get through the day, let alone pursue a leisure activity.
