Fish Identification Help

First of all, this fish was mishandled but swam away healthily.

My grandson was fishing off of our dock on the Columbia between Wenatchee and Chelan enjoying slaying pikeminnow, when he caught this. I wasn’t there, so didn’t get my eyes on. I’m thinking sockeye, but didn’t think sockeye had spots on the dorsal. Any thoughts?
