Finally…….it’s been a long winter.

Life of the Party
We returned home from our Whidbey Island trip on Tuesday and Wednesday morning I drove by our closest C&R lake to find it was ice free, yippee! I had appointments and such that day so I couldn’t fish it yet. Thinking Thursday is completely free I’d hit it then. Unfortunately after 65-70 degrees on Tuesday & Wednesday, Thursday was in the low 30’s and snowed all day! Luckily today warmed up some and the snow was gone with partly cloudy skies. I pulled up to the launch around 11:30 to find lots of fish swimming around in the shallows chasing one another. (I think they were spawning or getting ready to) Launched the Cruzer and headed towards one of my usual spots. There was lots of surface action, saw rings, fins and slurps and I managed to pick up several on my way over fast stripping my intermediate line (didn’t bring a floating line). All smaller fish in the 13-14 inch range but very feisty. Tried a few areas and managed a few more smaller fish. Things were slow until around 1pm and then the bite was on! One of my usual shoals came alive and I was getting decent fish regularly until around 2pm. This spot provided seven nice fish in that hours time, rainbows and tigers in the 17-20 inch range. I was getting numb fingers and toes so headed home at 2:30. Great time on the water and so glad to have one of my favorite lakes back in business.
