Drainage ditch trout

Found this healthy cutthroat in my local drainage ditch while swinging an olive and white streamer. Long, but a bit skinny compared to the usual. 2 other of similar size hit my streamer further down the ditch then spit out my barbless hook with disdain for me. They like to jump and head shake (more than run) so my landing rate is pathetically low...

Agree with looks like a post-spawn fish, but could also be a resident fish? Nice one, either way. It'll probably fatten back up in no time.

I don't want to reveal too much about location.... but yes this might be a post spawn fish headed back to the office after spawning in X creek. April is a bit late for me to fish these spots, I usually get the football shaped fish in February.

The fly is an optic variation I tied after reading an article on global fly fisher. It has produced better than any other streamer for me locally.
