@jact55 Your expertise is on display! The rod builder verified that the reel seat is Koa wood. Which adds a special touch personally since I am an islander.

Nice! Koa is an expensive wood nowadays.
They can only harvest fallen trees. But really the few mills that have access to bulk are fixing the market for insane prices.
Hard to come by and a very pretty penny. Got yourself a gem.

A lovely looking rod.

Have an 8' 5 weight three piece Phillipson bamboo rod coming to me in the mail. Going to fish it in the Wisconsin driftless spring creeks later this summer.
