A very popular Fly,the Coachman had many variations come about
Since it was introduced
In the late 1800's,
The Royal Coachman being one of them.

This creation,the
California Coachman came about by John Fricke.The fly was also known as the Yellow Royal Coachman.
The fly was tied up intended to use for trout fishing,but as it became popular it found much success tied up in a larger size and fished for Steelhead..
(the pattern Calls for Goose feathers for wings,here I tied it as a Hair Wing)

That hook is a tiemco 700,no longer being made,and very hard to find.

Did someone say coachman? The coachman and leadwing coachman are great beaver pond flies. They fish best with a bamboo rod.
