@jasmillo - Is that a fer-de-lance? Fantastic photos! Thanks for sharing!

It is! The first one we have seen in 6-7 trips. Unless required we try not to do guided tours. We prefer the flexibility of exploring ourselves plus my wife will literally take 3 hours following around a troop of monkeys photographing them. A lot of trips we do guides night hikes though and that is when we saw the fer de lance, scorpion and frog (plus a lot of other cool critters). The snake was uncomfortably close to the trail. Like 6 inches off the dirt :).

Lots of cool stuff this trip; 4 species of monkeys, tapirs, anteaters, sloths (both species in CR), various species of snakes and lizards, caiman, crocodiles, collard peccaries, agouti, tayra, woolly possum, coati, toucans, macaws and a ton of other birds. We always try to see something new each trip. This trip the fer de lance, collared peccaries, wooley possum and a 4+ foot parrot snake were the highlights. Still have not seen any of the cat species down there. Spent almost a week on the Osa this time around (in and around Corcavdo NP) but cats are cats and never reveal themselves easily.
