Haven’t ever tied or fished either. I plan to fish lakes a bit more this year.

This one works. It’s tied on a standard wet fly #8. The length of the fnf Jelly is pretty long, so I’d avoid anything smaller than a #10. They do sell a micro fritz but I haven’t tried it. I have trolled this fast in the pontoon and seen fish come off the bottom to attack it. It’s a desperate measure during slow conditions. I haven’t had any success with boobies but I haven’t used them much.
Any standard wet fly hook (2x heavy) works for the blobs. I have mustad r70s, so that's what I use. Something like a tiemco 3761 would likely do just fine as well. I tie size 8 or 10.
Mustad C49S in size 6-8 are my usual for da boobies.
