Bird Alert

I know that some PNWF followers are interested in birds. If you are one of that lot and are on, or headed to, the SW Washington coast, keep an eye out for what is considered the first documented Blue Rock Thrush in North America. The bird was photographed last week on the beach at Hug Point, Oregon, 30 miles south of the Columbia. It is reasonable to assume it will be migrating north. A birder photographed one in BC years ago, but the nerd committee decided the sighting wasn't sufficiently documented, so officially the bird didn't exist.

In your mind's eye picture a robin. Now, paint a lot of it blue. If you get lucky, show us photos.

Thanks. This is esoteric stuff but of interest to quite a number of us outdoorsy folks.

Gee...that looks exactly like the bird my cat was chowing down out on the back deck this morning.
