Elk were bugling as we walked to the river but the day was warm enough for shirtsleeves. I fished a brisk 7'6" Phillipson bamboo 5 weight. Picked up an occasional fish on dries but decided soft hackles in the riffles might be a better idea in the bright sunshine. Sometimes a hunch pays off.
Best fish of the day on a size 12 orange and partridge soft hackle.
The forecast looks pretty good for the next 10 days. Make the most of it.
