Albacore fly

Bagman

Steelhead
I got to thinking about a fly just for a bait stop. I wanted it to dive downward and have that wiggle butt swim that I’ve seen live bait as soon as they hit the water. I know that a flat wing type fly would swim as close to what I was after as anything I can think of, but I needed weight up front to get it to dive downward. I’ve yet to do a dive test on this fly, because this hook is not one I’ve ever tied a fly on. The bottom pic is a hook that I tied a piece of 65 pound mono, as you can see the hook bent. The test was repeated using 35 pound mono and the mono broke but the hook did not bend.
