A winston, coastal cutts and something else...

I enjoy mid september because it's time to break out my longer bamboo rods to fish for coastal cutts. Took a 9' 4 and 7/8's ounce winston bamboo rod to a Washington river today. This rod throws effortless long casts. It takes a 6 or 7 weight.

Decided to swim sparse new england style streamers (e.g. Chief Needebah, Colonel Bates, Black Ghost) on a floating line and a 12 foot 6 pound floro leader.

Plenty of cutthroat...

And a surprise steelhead taken on a size 12 long shank Colonel Bates streamer. Got to love fall.

I cast the 9' winston at our bamboo fling a couple years ago and liked it so much I bought it. It can throw a long line with minimal false casts and is hollowbuilt so less fatiguing for the arm. It's rated for a 6/7. I fish a 6 weight for kamloops and the 7 weight when I'm on a big river for coastal cutts.
