Vinnie from Alaska used to rave about Sharpes spliced fly rods at the classic fly rod forum. He said they were perfect for roll casting on Alaska streams for steelhead and salmon. I've become a convert. I have Sharpes 10', 12' and 13' spliced fly rods. Had fun casting my Sharpes 10' 7 weight on the grass today. Paired it with a 4' Farlows President. It's got a fighting butt so you can spey and roll cast. Handled a Rio intouch Single Hand spey 7 weight line nicely. I was also able to cast a 10' fast sinking polyleader of 45 grams on the end. It's a two piece so more difficult to travel with than a 3 or 4 piece spey rod.

I took a nice Cowlitz steelhead on this rod and a small hares ear wet fly last August while I was out looking for early cutts.

I'll bring it to the bamboo fling next Saturday.
