I noticed a "snarl" in my backing while trolling/striping (carpal tunnel has me adjusting my approach) so I came to a halt in what turned out to be a failed attempt to make things right. I finally gave up and decided I had 70' feet out (only 30' of a type 5 RIO line and backing. RIO line fail on day 1 a few years ago but I figured it's still would suffice for a lot of waters and I've caught many fish on the bastard arrangement and it shoots well) and that was plenty to work with for the remainder of the day. It didn't take long on the retrieve, which appeared to be vertical before I knew I had a fish on. The little porker felt considerably bigger than it turned out to be. Reminded me of my youth and those wide bodied panfish fights.
