I agree. What I really love reading about right now is about diesel power locomotives. It is just unreal the power those things generate. I would love to ride on one some day.
During one project where I was working with Donaldson filtration when Kenworth was in the R&D phase creating the regen units for their trucks I went on a couple rides between Mt Vernon and Yakima in our Kenworth 388's and where those Diesel engines shine is going up hill. They just feel like they bite down, the front end lifts up, and you cruise up the hill behind a screaming Turbo. Or..........2.

I believe the dominant form of diesel locomotives use the diesel engines to provide electrical power to the actual traction motors. Utilizing direct mechanical transmission to traction wheels did not work very well.

I have a softopper canopy on my 5ft bed and my pop up camper weighs 600lbs empty. I lose about 2mpg towing, with the bed and camper loaded with gear for a week. Canopy made a huge difference for packing gear.View attachment 36806View attachment 36807

Nice! I have one of those trailers, too. It's the 8.0, I think. We used to pull that with our 4 banger, but the 6 cyl is perfect.
