The aphids just recently noticeably appeared, and my predator hoards are on it. The tea rose is about bloomed out so I'll just prune hard.

Things have really been growing, so no weeding.
I dont miss weeding...this sort of lush fullness is what we like, but some thinning and dividing will happen in the fall, some things are a bit too happy with their lot in life.
Good week for gardens, sun and heat will do wonders for the veggies.
:)

Sorta' gardening related; this is about our yard landscaping. We tried to use a lot of native plants and shrubs. It turns out we underestimated how much some of them would grow and spread out. Spread out they have, nearly over-growing the pathway that leads down to the "exit" gate from the back yard into the natural landscape "wilderness." It's usually a half day job to prune and hack away at the brush to keep the path cleared enough to get the lawnmower down it and roll a wheelbarrow of weeds and pruning to the designated compost heap. So what of it, you say? HEDGETRIMMER!!! Don't know why I didn't think of it before, other than that we don't have a "hedge." Not much of a selection at Lowe's, so I wandered over to Home Depot. Found a battery powered Ryobi that uses the same battery as my Ryobi drill and impact driver and raft inflator. I bought the package that includes a battery and charger since having another battery on hand seemed like a good idea. When I got home I charged the new battery and one off my drill, thinking it might take more than a single battery charge to get through my trimming task. Hah! This little sucker just melts shrubbery! It took maybe 15 minutes at the most, and I was looking for more stuff to trim! Discovered that a hedge trimmer can be almost as much fun as a chainsaw. Life is good. Now I'll go out to my raised beds and replant onions one more time.

I did this exact same thing yesterday! Same thought process, same tool, same results.

The benefits of cultivating a healthy system in my cottage garden, no chemicals. 24 hours later and the bugs have done the work. Three this morning, it's now down to two as the food is all but gone!
