Do you ever tie it in a balanced leech style?
I don't. I like just having one fly that I can throw with sinking line or under an indicator. I like the simplicity of a slotted bead and jig hook in regards to tying and to be honest I don't think it makes a difference to the fish.

Those all seem like very good points. I just hear some local winter/early-spring bass fly fishers who are all about the balanced leech. But yeah, I can also see it not mattering to the fish.

Cool rules!

Technical question: Aren't we supposed to tie a new fly for this? Or can we just dig through the archives for what we want?

Either way I'm playing this month as I need the motivation and have a plan for such fly.
