That bottom one is money.Sunny, cold, clear water... thinking about stuff like this. Small flies with contrast and lots of translucency. These two are about 2.5"

Between the flu and inclement weather, I haven't even cast a fly in 2024. Hoping to change that soon...
Thanks James, that's encouraging.I like that a lot Tom! Can't wait to hear how it works!!!
And I'm likin' that one a lot. I had luck with similar flies last fall, but that one strikes me a really nice.Mikey’s October Caddis Pupae

I’ve been using that pattern for cutthroat and summer steelhead from the time the pupae emerge in September or October until late in the fall. Most of the time it’s a dense hatch. The Steelhead remember those bugs for a long time. Mike Sturza came up with that one. The Palmer chenille is a new addition. Thanks James, that's encouraging.

You’re definitely fishing a different part of the water column than I am. I’m near the top with an intermediate leader. It’s an opportunity for me to get a steelhead with a single hand 6 wt. and a floating line. I’m never quite happy with the shade of orange dubbing but the fish keep eating it.I had really good luck imitating those with these:
