Cookies ERROR problems... (inc darkmode)

I'm moving this discussion here rather than the other thread to make troubleshooting easier.

-------

Are you having trouble staying logged in to pnwflyfishing? Is your darkmode selection not working?

What browser are you using? Does it happen if you try a different browser? Are you using any browser extensions? Can you try disabling them and seeing if that changes things? Mobile or desktop?

Also, if you know how, can you try clearing your pnwflyfishing cookies and seeing if that helps?

For example, in Firefox (desktop) that would be:

Firefox menu at the top > Preferences > Privacy & Security > Cookies & site data - manage data > search for pnwflyfishing > click on it to highlight > click remove selected > click save changes

No issues except yesterday morning I couldn't get the site to come on, got an error message. Then I tried a while later with no problem.

I use a desktop and Firefox.

I cleared my history and cookies on Chrome and was able to log in and get dark mode again.

I don't have any problems coming on or just looking and reading things on here. I only come on by a average of once a day. Used to come on more but not much things about fishing anymore. Bummer.

I am using Google Chrome. I cleared cookies for PNWFlyfishing.com. I've also gone straight to the url https://pnwflyfishing.com ; I then log in as normal. But--I can still consistently re-create the log-out/dark mode off thing, by clicking either the "Home" tab, or clicking the PNWFF fish logo. Both of those take me to a logged out bright mode page of the home Forums page. Neither go to the same page as https://pnwflyfishing.com.

Just to be clear. You can's stay logged AND you can't get dark mode to stick? Or you just can't keep dark mode sticking, but CAN stay logged in?

I can stay logged in and dark mode is sticking, generally. The only time it logs me out and goes to bright mode is if I click on Home tab or the fish logo.

Ditto. When that happens, I click my new PNWFF bookmark, it takes me back to Forum, Dark Mode & still logged-in. Same experience whether on Chrome or Edge.

I didn't log out but when I went back to the site I got the same cookies message.
I cleared my browsing data and cookies again and was able to get back on plus dark mode.

I cleared the cookies for this site in chrome as mentioned, then did a restart, and everything works like normal again.

5 minutes ago. Using chrome on Android mobile. Logged in and dark mode setting was activated. Clicking the fish logo logged me out and then I had a cookie error pop up preventing log in. Cookie are enabled in my settings though. I cleared my browser history including cookies and that allowed me to sign back in and dark mode came back with it.Screenshot_2022-11-29-17-18-30-04_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.jpg

I have gotten the same message that Gary
Received above. I have to close my page and clear history then re-enter site and log on again and then it seems to be fine.

Indeed. I'll do some investigating
The page it was going to from those links was actually looking just slightly different than the normal “Forums” page. Aside from the light/dark thing, the content was a little different.
