For those who carry on the river

Didn't you get jumped in a clothing store or something over there?

Point is crime can happen anywhere. Let's get back to holster talk please and not turn this into a political shit storm.

Ha! Yeah I had some drunk dude try to get up on me while I was shopping for dress shoes at the Dillards. Lucky for him he was being cased by a security officer. Otherwise, as the 1996 GA wrestler of the year, I would’ve had the chance to defend my title.

To your point, of course crime can happen anywhere. But I don't think you'd want to compare crime on our rivers to the mess you have on the wet side. That would be silly. Go to any boat launch in SW Montana today and you will most likely find keys in the gas cap and $30 in the driver visor.

But yeah, this is not my problem so best to let you guys work it out. Lets get back to discussing killing tweakers and mounting them in the trophy room...I mean holster talk.

montana sure is different. I spent some time over there this summer and was just absolutely amazed I never found a single piece of garbage literally anywhere near the river and there were hundreds of college kids floating the river and not a single beer can to be found anywhere. The closest thing I found to garbage was a sticker on the back of a sign that marked the boat launch we were putting it on. And it was a funny sticker so it wasn’t a demerit. The take out we used was rough, had to drag a raft up a steep embankment and it wasn’t easy. Every evening, people would hang around and help move boats up and carry them onto trailers without asking or expecting anything. Much respect.

Have you looked at violent crime rates between Montana and Washington? You might be surprised. Holster talk might be more relevant for Montana based on violent crime, just saying...

Might I suggest that all threads about guns or carrying be posted in Cast n Blast instead of General Discussion?
It's a good safe space for those who feel a need for weapons. You'd have to be a real dick to visit that forum and make negative comments about carrying.

No need to foul the general fishing forum mood with a controversial topic when there's an obvious place where you're more likely to get a useful answer to a legitimate question anyway.

Great suggestion!

Great thread

But while I find this highly entertaining, it is also sad that you all have become conditioned to expect the possibility of crime just when you want to go fishing.

But I guess that is "progress" over there in clown world.

Edited for shitty grammar.
Now whenever I hear about tweakers and break-ins on a named river I've started to think "Man - the fishing on that river must be getting *good* right about now...."

I've also started to think that I should just budget $1000 a year for local fishing trips - inclusive of any vehicle damage - and just mentally include that along with gas, shuttle fees, etc as part of the price I pay for persuing this silly hobby in this silly state, and use the unspent balance on casting lessons, guided trips, bucket-list slush fundage, etc...

I know 2 people who have shot themselves holstering Glocks. One was an NRA certified instructor. I know exactly zero people who have been attacked by anyone while fishing. Training, and care, are required when carrying. I carried for a fair bit of my life, but when it comes right down to it, it's a pain in the ##s, and there really isn't that much danger lurking in the world, at least in the world I move about in.
I'm not bashing Glocks, any striker fired handgun deserves extra care when holstering. Especially in a chest holster.
Like they accidentally pulled the trigger when holstering or?

Let me preface this by stating that I have absolutely nothing against hunters, and the use of the appropriate gun for hunting and responsible gun ownership and use; however, this thread has displayed a rather flippant attitude towards the killing of other human beings (so-called "tweakers") and it has been mostly/entirely, from what I can tell, by those that support unfettered carrying - that scares the shit out of me more than any so-called "tweakers". I would hope responsible gun owners would take this a little more seriously, and that is all I will have to say on this.

Have a wonderful afternoon,

Cheers

At 6’2” and 225 lbs of workout nearly every fucking day, as well as a number of other reasons I’m not fun to fuck with, I’d just rather not get into it with someone with nothing to loose.
-I nominate you to lead the crowd-sourced takeout parking lot security detail that everyone's been fantasizing about in previous threads!

.
Someone needs to come up with a variant of Godwin's law to describe what every thread that begins with a practical question about firearms turns into.

This one's different. I mean now people know about my trophy room and the Olympia, Portland, Seattle rating system.

Thank you for making the distinction between hunters. As we lose many hunting opportunities and move onto other quarry and control of invasives along with depredation it's important to still practice fair chase and honour the game. I take utmost pride in doing so and it's good to see that appreciated.

Just be human once. Just one time! You have to be trying so hard to come across this soul sucking all of the time because I do not believe it could possibly come natural to anyone. I bet when you log off you are super pleasant and probably a funny guy and full of light conversations, genuinely I can see that and I would share a beer with THAT guy no doubt about it. The round is on me. But the beacon of truth, science, and virtue avatar you’ve constructed for yourself online leaves a lot to be desired my friend. I read your back handed sign offs “have a wonderful afternoon” in a nasally dry voice and I can’t control it. Every end of the sentence comes with an audible mehhhh. The quotations around “tweaker” just encapsulate the petty and condescending tone you project so perfectly.

Someone called me a pussy and I laughed. I can’t imagine what people started to write and deleted. That would be so fun to know! The internet is not that serious. You can joke about anything at anytime it’s so fun and wonderful. Just like my afternoon.

Be you today. Let your light shine through.

The guy just moved to North carolina, give him a break, its a scenic but shitty place to live.
