For those who carry on the river

I never carry my leaf blower on the river, but it works wonders cleaning out a drift boat.
:)

If it makes you pussies feel any better, my apprentice won't leave his house without two guns. I asked if he brings a gun when he goes to check his mail?, he says yes , you don't know when you're going to need it.

#pussiesrule

Also, in the interest of making this discussion more culturally and anatomically accurate….we really should be proud of being called a pussy, because vaginas are tough, unlike balls, which are sensitive and weak.

I thank the great and powerful @kmudgn for the compliment!
What's the Betty White quote about reincarnation ? Come back as a vagina, those things take a pounding...?

I know 2 people who have shot themselves holstering Glocks. One was an NRA certified instructor. I know exactly zero people who have been attacked by anyone while fishing. Training, and care, are required when carrying. I carried for a fair bit of my life, but when it comes right down to it, it's a pain in the ##s, and there really isn't that much danger lurking in the world, at least in the world I move about in.
I'm not bashing Glocks, any striker fired handgun deserves extra care when holstering. Especially in a chest holster.

Without a doubt. It’s not smart to play fast and loose with any pistol let alone striker fired or even hammer fired semis.

I, for one, don’t have a round chambered unless I know proof positive I’m in danger or am in an extremely dangerous area.

Some might say that makes it ineffective but I disagree on multiple fronts. I don’t care to argue it though, to each their own and on yer way.

I was thinking of posting self-defense the video here, but since people might be at work or other sensitive environments I'll just describe it.

Youtubers head out to tough neighborhoods and instigate fights with the dudes they encounter on the street. Once they start stripping off their shirts and throwing hands - they put their training to use to instantly win each and every conflict and send their would be assailants running...by dropping their pants and revealing that they are packin' - in shiny metallic thongs, thongs with strategically placed elephant trunks, etc.

Oh shit, how’d you find m YouTube channel?

Almost all experts will advise carrying a pistol with a round in the chamber. It's been hashed out. Some experts will advise a newbie to carry without a chambered round for a few days..Most people soon realize, that the pistol won't just jump out of the holster and shoot someone, and start to carry with one in the chamber..like 100% of knowledgeable gun owners.

I don't chamber until the gun comes out.

I'd like to add that a pistol at home on the nightstand might, very well, be safer with an empty chamber. Waking up, clearing your head, and having to actually rack the slide might be safer than just reaching for a Glock ready to go. That being said....If you are "carrying" a pistol in any sort of holster for self protection ...most experts will advise a chambered round... If this causes you to pause, then perhaps further training is needed.

If you carry a firearm with a mechanical safety......that may be your first and last mistake.

But while I find this highly entertaining, it is also sad that you all have become conditioned to expect the possibility of crime just when you want to go fishing.

But I guess that is "progress" over there in clown world.

Edited for shitty grammar.

I think for me it's more about being conditioned to expect to be on my own. Not that it's really that much better than expecting the possibility of crime. It may be worse now that I think about it.

Example: We had a break in at our jobs site Thursday night. Motion activated cameras caught two people on camera inside the fences attempting to steal copper. The alarm company called Seattle PD at 1:30AM. SPD responded at 3AM. The precinct is two blocks from the jobsite....
