My money is on "Overcoming the physical/chemical obstacled required to develop economically viable grid-scale energy storage are far more difficult than most people without specialized expertise can even begin to fathom and may be impossible to achieve in practice."

Some folks have shared their personal transformation to Solar on this thread. I believe we have all learned from their successes and set backs. We have a ways to go to catch up with countries like Australia and Germany but there is hope.

I chose Germany because it does not see nearly the same amount of sunlight as Australia and is still ranked 4th in the world in Solar output.

JoNova - After a look at this cite, I will agree with an earlier post in this thread.

If Germany is your model, I think I'll pass.

I mean, I know I'm in the minority on this forum but I actually prefer having heat during the winter.

If only we were more like Europe.........

Anyone observing what is happening there has to be aware of how important energy independence is. You can choose your own friends when you are energy independent. You don't have to kiss the ass of bad leaders when you are energy independent like our great friends the Saudis who really share our values, especially when it comes to free press. This can be solar, petro, wind, and other. The key element is independence.

Why then do you go outside and strap boards to your feet to seek out the deepest piles of frozen water you can find?

My daughter lives and works in Berlin and her husband was born and raised in Bremen which is in the NE part of the country.
In many ways they are way ahead of us from an energy standpoint and in others I kind of wonder. My son in laws parents have enough solar on their home that they power not only the home but also two 100% electric company vans along with their personal vehicles. Even at that they got about a 4000 Euro rebate for excess power that went back to the power company. Their high speed rail system is also pretty amazing.
On the flip side their housing is about as bass ackwards as it can get. When you rent an apartment you don't get any kitchen cabinets, light fixtures, etc. and most people take them when they leave for the next place. Note the kitchen sink to window in my daughter's new apartment. When I asked about it she said that was the way the plumbing was roughed in. (This is new construction)
The exterior of the building has absolutely no appeal and looks more like a big white prison.

Oh, and it's illegal to kill a bee there. I get the pollinator thing but I think I would have to draw the line if I saw this bakery case in Berlin.:D

Lots more that's unusual, some for the better and perhaps some not but I'm thread drifting.
Long story short, I'm mostly conservative but am all for conservation IF it makes good common sense.
Right now it seems that many are willing to throw out the baby with the bath water.

Here's a plan for the future. How about we ban private jets?

If this is such an existential crisis, shouldn't that be a no brainer?
Oh, for sure. And right behind that, or maybe ahead of it in terms of energy conservation, how's about we ban using fuel guzzling trucks for the folly of chasing trout that we don't even eat? I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the carbon footprint of recreational fishing exceeds that of private jets on the global scale.

Are you debating the facts presented in her posts or just denying them because she is clearly not on the side of the climate hysteria that has hijacked the Australian energy system?

In 2009 spent 5 months as a consultant on Oahu managing facility engineering projects for Kaiser Permanente, the priority project a feasability project to stack solar panels on the Monalua med center. The project was completed several years later, and the project paid for itself in 7 years. Roof solar is a no brainer in most climates.
Leave it to Musk to jump into the game.

Considering how critical the Lake Mead power generation issue is, AZ should be at full warp speed installing massive solar powers out in the desert to begin picking up the load for the 4 million folks currently dependent on the dwindling Hoover Dam hydro generation.

This thread is not about "Climate Hysteria" as you put it. It is about folks telling us how and why they transitioned to Solar energy. From what I have seen, there reasons are mainly economic.

If you have read Dr. Green's story at the beginning of this post, I believe you will find him a qualified individual. One out of every four folks in Australia agrees with him and that number is growing. As far as hijacking the Australian energy system, that is your opinion and not fact.

here's what 'climate hysteria' looks like for those of us who give a damn about others..

lol....thnx for the chuckles

"Greenhouse gases should help prevent 90% of those deaths (they reduce temperature variability too). Looks like we need to burn more coal for the sake of the vulnerable and needy. When are our government and our government broadcaster going to start dealing with real problems, not fake ones?"

" But there is a clear rise in unexpected deaths at the same time as the medical experiments that also peaked in April, June, and December of 2021. As Kuhbandner and Reitzner point out, excess deaths appear to rise with the timing of vaccination doses, especially the first and the third."
