NFR Woodstock ‘99 - Netflix

My neighbor saw Kid last year at Sturgis. He said it was pure trash and fun as fuck. I'd go. And have fun.

Your friend is not wrong....but it really is fun as shit.

I saw Kid Rock live in 2002 or 03…I don’t remember the year. I wish cell phone cameras had been around. It was a good time. I have definitely seen better artists but it was extremely entertaining.

I don't care for his politics or persona, but I have been known to crank some Kid Rock in the car.

Agree that Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, etc are horrible music in the same way junk food is bad food, but I miss living in a world where up-tempo, guitar-based rock that kicked some ass and made you want to run into the garage and crank out a set of deadlifts, charge a line of moguls faster, etc.

The death of this style of music seems to roughly correlate with the dot-com bust and the emergence of a youth culture that...seems like it could use a bit more optimism, exuberance, and energy.
I agree, there was a time and a place, and at that time……

I talk shit about them, but was definitely blasting it at 11 on the boom box as a teenager, my first skateboard film had Limp Bizkit “faith” in it and I probably agonized hard during editing between that and a long list of equally shitty tracks 😂 There is cringe to every generation, whether it’s fashion, music or pop culture. Hindsight is 20/20 they say.

I still love some music from that era, most of all the deftones. Not sure why I find them acceptable but hear Korn and want to die inside.

Watching the doc now, on episode 2. Pretty wild for sure but not earth shattering as far as festivals go….. yet. I mean, does anyone here want to admit to ever going to a rave?? 😂

😆. It's the exact opposite for me....and I will see Korn live every chance I get. But that has more to do with the unique bass playing than anything else.

As a bass guy myself I can appreciate Fieldy’s unique approach. It’s also often described as the sonic equivalent of a load of silverware being dropped on a concrete staircase 🤓 Take it for what it is.

I might be in the minority here but I think the 80's is by far and away the shittiest decade of music that was ever made in almost every genre.

Haha, actually I think right now is giving the 80s a run for its money. Also a decade ago produced Mumford and Sons the worst band to ever caress the face of this earth.

Ok guys taking the time machine back right now as I begin my journey by playing one album from Bizkit, Korn and Mr Rock. This is for science.
We're doing this, I have to unload a truck, the bizkit on the PA system. Thanks to PNWFF limp bizkit is now trending on Spotify searches.
It's go time.
I'll probably lose customers over this but the 90s must be respected.

Just finished Korn Follow the Leader. I might flip flop harder then the CDC here that was better then I remember and it appears the science is evolving. There was some songs it took a lot of willpower to not press skip because they were definitely awful, but there were also some certified bangers in there. I am experiencing some symptoms, I have a strong urge to drink a Mountain Dew and go roller blade to the mall.

Kid Rock next.

Do they still sell Frost n' Glow? I'm having an urge to frost my tips...

I turned 23 in 1999 so this should have been right up my alley. The lineup was horrible though. The 90’s was an odd decade. Started off strong with the resurgence of rock and the arguably the high point for hip hop. Once Limp Bizkit rolled around and Puffy started dancing around in sequined jackets with Mace, it all went to shit….

Kid Rock is gonna be an extremely tough sell despite trying to keep an open mind. Not sure I’m gonna make it through and I’m on track 4 or 5. I’m not saying there couldn’t be a scenario where I would be interested to see him live for nostalgia, people watching and probably a good time, like if he happened to play at the tulalip casino or maybe the evergreen state fair for example, but I would definitely have to weigh factors like fuel prices and road conditions before committing. Does the ticket purchase include any drink or food vouchers? These are honest questions.

But a cold play in the headphones? That’s gonna be a no for me dog. I think I called it correctly. I’ve talked myself out of it. Back in the time capsule Mr Rock. Next man up.

All of this just depends on what style of music one is drawn to.

For me, I currently listen to a pretty wide range of stuff, but I'll always be drawn to that early Metallica, early Megadeth, etc....some people think it's just noise, I'm not one since once you break it down, it's all just music, just faster.

I think you could add the 90s to that decade. It wasn't all bad, just the preponderance of it.

People often tend to prefer music that was popular (and associated with youthful good times relatively free of life's many adult obligations) up to their early 30's...at which time everything following is dreadful shit.
I remember my dad listening to some dreadful shit when I was in my sweet spot...
