I agree! I have several Marquis, including all 3 of the Salmons, and they all stay home. I love my Perfects and Lightweights, including my new St. Aidan and St. Andrew.

Browning neoprene waders. Crotch was one third of the way between mine and my knees. Stiffest things I ever had. It was a hell of a workout fishing in them. I'm cheap, so I wouldn't give them up until they got a leak, and to my chagrin, they were damn near bulletproof.
Yes! My first stripping basket was one of those. Thought it would work so well and be great for travel but was totally useless.
The fiberglass stick that was inserted to make it bow and be taut snapped almost immediately and none of my repair attempts would hold. So I used a length of 12 gauge insulated copper wire and tried to shape it to a smooth “arch” but it was a mess.
What a piece of crap.
Wet wading the metolius can be rough.

What’s wrong with it? I’ve got a salmon #1 that is great. How’s the #2 different?
Brand new Sage X 9' 5 wt flyrod. Reel butt (as did the reel it was supposed to secure) fell off second trip out due only being attached to rosewood shaft with a tiny blob of cement. Impressive 'Made in America' craftsmanship. I suppose it might suffice as a backup for an Eagle Claw flyrod.

Rough sure, but every time I fish it when it's hot out, it's a small price to pay. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going balls deep there, so there are limitations, but that doesn't stop me.
It certainly perks you up when you first step in, but it's not so bad.
Beer is 90-95% water....duh.
Yup. Favored by gang-banger flyfishers everywhere.
Try wet wading Sloan creek or the Wallace river in the middle of summer. They almost freeze your balls off. Coldest skinny water I ever wet waded.

Most Rio lines I have bought. It’s embarrassing how many OBS’s I have gone through the last 5 years. I don’t even send them back anymore. My last two…less than a year. They were replacements for two that lasted….less than a year. Great performance….that’s why I have gone back so many times. Piss poor durability.
All high end Sage rods I have bought. Especially the super fast stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love the performance. When they are available to perform. I have had rods continually in for repair with Sage for over two years now. A number have been in multiple times. Prior to going the Sage route I had one other rod with breakage issues in 20+ years of fly fishing. I have now broken 4 different Sage rods in the last few years. 3 of those multiple times.
IMO, a company that has lost its way….
