Here's an out of the box solution (not at all sure this is a good solution). What if we just gave junkies/tweakers drugs? "Here you go, knock yourself out!" It would probably be cheaper for society and addicts wouldn't have to steal to get their fix.

I'm @jaredoconnor as to the gross wealth inequality in our country. It's not about the upper middle class vs. the poor. It's about the zottarich vs everyone. The ten wealthiest men in the world own more than the bottom 40% of the world's population. A change is gonna come, and it won't be pretty.

This makes me happy:

Ya know, if I had to be in seattle with mom for a certain period of time, I have no issue going to work out on lake city way. Seriously stress free compared to other stuff.

How much of your wealth are you going to transfer?
As things are planned right now, whatever wealth ive accrued by the time I pass or am no longer mentally competent, my considerably younger wife and daughter will get everything. Thats part of the reason we have shelters called family trusts.

You just haven't lowered your personal standards
Being poor in the USA is actually awsome. I only claimed 28k in wages in covid 20', and 21.' This put me in the low income zone. I got 11k earned income tax credit each year and only $7,200 ppp round 1 and 9k ppp round 2. Business got less pandemic relief then I got tax return for being poor.....

Yeah, brother in law went through the ppp and didnt qualify in the first round because it ran out of money .

Understand the beimg poor in America aspect . Went through that in the late 90's as an independent contractor....took it in the shorts for over two years and then folded up the tent and moved on...

I believe in Capitalism. Especially in lieu of Socialism. The problem is greed I believe. The greed in socialism just comes from the folks running the show as state officials in terms of corruption. In capitalism it’s the wealthy. I have zero problem with people that start from scratch and get it done because they’re smart and innovative. Inherited wealth is a different circumstance.

. Australia, not so much.
Interesting statistics for sure!

I believe in capitalism, done right. America is bordering on an oligarchy and there's only one way to fix it.

Here's an experiment for the MAGA folks. Think of the year when you believe America was the greatest. For the record, daddy says it was in the 50s. Now, look at the graph below. If we're going to make America great again, shouldn't we start here?

Yes there is poor in the US, but ask anybody from a severely poor 3rd world country if they would rather be poor here, it is night and day. Take one of those 3rd world uber poor and put them here in the US and they will shine and succeed. Some people don't want to work, period, and would rather suck of the teet of society!

One can talk social issues all day long, blah blah, blah, yes some people need help but if they don't want it there is zero point. There is a very large segment of people that just don't give a shit about our opinions let alone our values, especially our values.

They will do what ever the fuck they want, when the want with zero repercussions, it will only get worse. I've said it a couple times but until our prosecutors start prosecuting these people and the judges start doing their jobs we might as well go full Mad Max!

May have missed some of the conversation but my answer to most social/cultural questions are education and critical thinking... society keeps us at run... hard to think when you cant slow down.

This country only promises opportunity, not results. I'd drunk myself onto the seattle streets in the late 80's. The only way out was quit drinking, work at KFC, and go back to school. Everybody has that opportunity. It's the folks that have mental health issues that need us to support them and get them the help they need, which just might be forever with no success metric. That's why politicians will not go that way.

In my best Austrailian accent "bloody hell, mate, more thefts per 100,000 in Austrailia than the USA" (Do the Aussies say "bloody"?) Australia: No. 4 theft rate nation, eh. (2016).

That opertunity is a plenty, there is very few countries that one could build an empire worth BILLIONS from nothing! The results are up to the individual and the determination of said individual

Again mental health needing people have to want help, other wise you are waiting your breath and time and money.

We might have shared a drink. I too found myself on the streets of Seattle drinking and drugging in the mid eighties. We should compare stories.

Maybe. Glad your here too, it would be a pleasure to meet some time I'm sure.

Not sure I agree. Drug addiction, in most cases, requires the individual to admit to being addicted before him or her can begin to recover. People with mental health problems may never know or understand that they suffer from mental health problems. Some suffer from both mental health issues and addiction. Some like those addicted to drugs like meth suffer so much physical and mental damage they might require some form of permanent help. One of the scariest individuals I ever dealt with was a relapsed meth addict. His perception of reality was so bizarre that if I hadn’t witnessed it myself I wouldn’t be able to believe what he was going through.
