Deschutes Madness

Steelhead

Hook - Gamakatsu T10-6H or equivalent

Tail - Fluorescent red floss or multiple strands of glo brite #3 floss
Ribbing - Purple crystal chenille
Body - Fluorescent red floss or tying thread
Collar - Purple hen hackle
Wing - Purple calf tail and strands of purple krystal flash

There are various recipes for the steelhead fly.

My dyeing skills on the purple calf tail leaves a lot to be desired.

It just came out a lighter shade than I wanted.

All these fancy new colors and they’ll still prefer white ;)
probably, I've only fished white and chartreuse....got a couple on chartreuse. Of course, then I had to change to something else to see how it did....

Sweet fly...I use very similar flies a huge percentage of time on difficult trout...big slow moving rivers and lakes. I've never dubbed the after shaft I am going to try that...I have used them down to #22 for Tricos. BTW on the #20 and smaller I skip the wing.
