Tender and delicious! I posted my process here :Zak, I have never cooked tri tip and am completely unfamiliar with it. I usually see tri tip steak in the meat counter. How was that tri tip roast off your grill? Tough and chewy, or not? Doesn't a roast need to cook slowly? Help me out here; maybe I can learn something.

The process: dry rub and let roast come up to room temperature, then quick sear on a very hot grill for 4 minutes per side, then move to a cooler area of grill and check periodically with meat thermometer until thick center is 135-137 degree F. Rest, tented with foil, for 15 minutes and then slice across the grain(s).
