I will add that you can buy a kitchen gadget that makes "Sonic Ice" for about $150. Basically, thinly shaved ice that is compacted into "pebbles". This ice absorbs the flavor, rapidly cools the liquid and has a texture that is "chewable". But, I'm happy with my seltzer water pebble ice.

I had never associated India with good rum, but this is as good as any high-priced ones I've tried, and a steal at $35 cdn ($25 usd) per bottle. I drink it neat...no ice or mix.

When I lived in Monroe our street of mostly 26-35 yr olds, all beginning parenthood, would have margarita parties about once a month. They were really just mixed drink parties, but it always featured a new margarita that we voted on. I never won. Haha!

Someone would volunteer to be the baby sitter for the night, or we would spend the big $$ and get an actual baby sitter.
One of my neighbor buddies was from Barbados. Probably the only black Canadian dude, from Barbados, in Snohomish County.
He made the best drinks (no matter which booze) and every year or 2 they would go visit his family in Barbados. They would bring back local mom & pop rums that were ridiculous. He had the "mixer" box and then the "sipping" box. If you got caught mixing some foofoo drink with one of the sippers you were in big trouble. The ladies were usually the guilty party for that one.

We had some great times and some damn good rum. As with everything, nothing lasts forever. Most of us moved out of Monroe about the same time for various reasons. He's a very successful politician in Alberta now. And he probably makes even better drinks now!
