I find this disheartening. So the most powerful website in the world is where the stupid and some potentially normal people go to post, in 140 characters or less, and display their ignorance and general lack of intelligence and critical thinking skills to the world. I never would have dreamed it could be possible to invent a venue where masses of humans would pay (though advertising) to put their ignorance on display and that such a venue would indeed be successful. I should be paying more attention to that axiom that says you'll never go wrong underestimating the intelligence of humans. JFC.

It is often said that social media can be more powerful than a nuclear weapon.

Often said by who .... I must run in the wrong circles, have never heard this expressed, course I don't hang with folks who think in bumper sticker thoughts ... well, I guess I don't really hang with anyone for that matter

cheers

Do you feel those "dumbfuks" have the right to say "a lot of really fucking stupid shit?"

Nah.. too dangerous.
...and that's why bluffing works. Putin knows he'll get away with it because the world is afraid of nukes. As long as we cower in fear, he'll keep at it. That's how these things work. That's how it's always worked. Read your bible Rob, it happens over and over.

Yes, which is why he was charged with securities fraud by the SEC and was handed down a small fine.

Two points here.

1. When a fine isn't a deterrent it simply means legal for a price. Legal and illegal for the wealthy is different than me and you. Like I say, legal for a price.

2. I think market influencing and inside information has always and will always be tough to enforce. Hell your politicians have an inside track and often dump and buy accordingly to personally enrich themselves. But Martha Stewart? We gotta make her pay? Again, rules for thee but not for me. If we were serious about prosecuting for market manipulation and insider trading we'd need allot more club fed prisons. As it stands it's allowed if you have big money or are big time.

My last post was a lie. I agree with you.. we should risk nuclear war to help Ukraine and bring putin to justice. I just didn't want to restart that argument on here.
