Which levels and what's so fascinating about it?This story is fascinating on so many levels.
Which levels and what's so fascinating about it?
I don't have a twitter account so have never posted. I have read twitter posts when articles linked them. Many of those posts are by people who indicate by what they write that they are, indeed, dumber than a box of rocks. If I were stupid I wouldn't want to display it for all the world to see. I suspect they suffer from the Dunning-Kruger effect and have no idea of just how stupid they are.
The Board just cross checked him.Twitter invited him to be a member of their board, basically to prevent a hostile takeover, once they realized he was buying up millions of shares, and then he walked away from the offer. He's pretty much proved he can change the trajectory of the company without actually running it. It really is unique and fascinating.
Well...that's actually the legal definition of a "hostile takeover" when referring to buying a public company.“Hostile takeover” LOL. Putin invading Ukraine is a fucking hostile takeover. Someone OFFERING to buy a company cash at a premium price is not a hostile takeover but words don’t matter when you work in the media.
what levels? i'm curious cause i only see a couple that are compelling.

I stand corrected, I assumed it was some sensational hyperbole considering the image it evokes in my head. I still find it funny. I even wrote it in my diary.Well...that's actually the legal definition of a "hostile takeover" when referring to buying a public company.
Hostile takeover: "An attempt to purchase a controlling stake in a corporation without the consent of the board of directors of the target company, or else continuing to negotiate with shareholders after the board of directors rejects the bid."
So, isn't that known as Market Manipulation? something that's supposed to be illegal under SEC rules ?Isn't this just the same shtick Musk did in 2018 when he said funding was secured to take Tesla private at $420/share with Saudi buyers? Uses tweets to get market activity to boost price to some inflated target, SEC sues over this, he settles and has to pay a relatively small fine compared to what he made when dumping the stock at the higher price. Nothing goes private, he walks away with the attention he wants, and the SEC gets a minor win from the lawsuit.
Yes, but very difficult to prosecute. Large institutional investors and influential financial figures do it constantly. The crypto world is similar; the owners of huge crypto wallets are able to impact market price. Very large movements in any asset class can ripple throughout a market. It is difficult to factually differentiate between a holder's sincerely held belief about the future value of a financial instrument or their desire to make gains through manipulation of its value. So, isn't that known as Market Manipulation? something that's supposed to be illegal under SEC rules ?
for me there's two interesting things, without which none of the other elements you mention would be extraordinary. This is business/finance, free speech, culre, politics, geo-politics, and raw power all combined into one story.
Twitter is the most powerful website in the world but Musk has taken a shot at the regime. We'll see where it goes but they have my attention.
I figured that was the case, thus my just providing the fact.I stand corrected, I assumed it was some sensational hyperbole considering the image it evokes in my head. I still find it funny. I even wrote it in my diary.
Add Tic Tok to that category
Where everyone tries to get their 15 minutes of fame in 140 characters...
It's good for following intelligent people or during breaking news events, disasters, and such.
Most of it is garbage, just like Facebook.
It's full of dolts, morons, cretins and fools
I'm sure some are fine tweeters.

Jim, I admire your “Zen”. Don’t give no crap, don’t take crap, not in the crap business.I can't post on FB anymore. But I don't give a shit anymore. Don't want Instagram or Twitter. I like that I'm in the dark all the time. I'm just adrift in my little world.![]()
I use Facebook for all my uncivil discord. I get banned for a few days at a time regularly. How I picture Swimmy starting these threads

all good though, I have enjoyed our off topic banter and civil discourse on the forum so far.
I find this disheartening. So the most powerful website in the world is where the stupid and some potentially normal people go to post, in 140 characters or less, and display their ignorance and general lack of intelligence and critical thinking skills to the world. I never would have dreamed it could be possible to invent a venue where masses of humans would pay (though advertising) to put their ignorance on display and that such a venue would indeed be successful. I should be paying more attention to that axiom that says you'll never go wrong underestimating the intelligence of humans. JFC.Twitter is the most powerful website in the world
That's one aspect of it. But if you stick to following official accounts vs peoples personal bullshit, it's a powerful way to get instant news updates for any number of topics. From things like sports to investments, etc. It's been very useful for me, but I don't pay attention to anyone's personal drivel.I find this disheartening.
