If you have ever fished Chopaka or the lakes to the south like Blue lake you probably have slowed down and gone through the town of Loomis. A quiet little town of about 130 folks who have the Mountain Sheep come right through the streets of town on occasion. Loomis has been on level 3 evacuation and continues to be as the fire comes closer!

Here are a couple of excerpts from the Okanogan Chronicle where you can get the full story: I thought the first paragraph was pretty dramatic!

The warning comes as the Washington State Department of Natural Resources described Saturday as one of the most dangerous wildfire weather events the state has faced. According to DNR, the Particularly Dangerous Situation designation is the first ever issued in Washington and is reserved for the most severe fire weather conditions.

The City of Tonasket has scheduled a special meeting of the mayor and city council for 11 a.m. Saturday to discuss immediate needs and support for community members affected by the fires. City officials said the latest updates on the Sinlahekin Fire will be shared, and the public is encouraged to attend.
 
In addition, a fire broke out west of Spokane, jumped the river into the NW edge of Spokane.
Currently go now evacuations from Spokane river to Division St on the east for the far north side of the city.
A smaller fire has grown quickly on the NE edge of city.

Thanks. I thought it might have somehow been imagined to be his fault.

I was up above Lake Katchess yesterday and talked with a Forest Service guy keeping people from getting too close to the Three Queens fire on Box Ridge. He was brought in from Arizona to supplement local resources.
 
My wife and I are in Billings taking care of my 96 year old mother after a fall and are pretty sure our home in Spokane might be gone.
When the last neighbors evacuated they said the fire was at our back fence. Our son and grandkids got a lot of important stuff out but there'still a lifetime of memories that are likely lost.
We have shed a lot of tears and are on pins and needles waiting for an update when the evacuation is lifted.

We are now on level 2 with near by Wannacut lake at level 3. Packing bags and throwing expensive stuff in the back of the pick-up. We will head for higher elevation and hope to see our town/home in the morning.

My comment was on Cal Fire sending help to aid a very dry WA state with firefighters spread very thin. Thank you Gov. Newsome. I know who to blame but the mods would raise hell!

@Old406Kid hoping for the best regarding your home. Also wishing the best for your mom. Falls at an older age are definitely scary. Glad you are there helping her.
