Parts are under Hoot Owl as of July 11th. With this hot weather I'm sure more waters will follow.:(

Call me weird, but I support the Hoot Owl restrictions. Protecting the numerous native (wild) species is important for long lasting resources.

Plus the timing is great for my afternoon nap or tying flies with a cold beer in-hand.

I support Hoot Owl as well but have to wonder how effective it really is.

Montana FWD has done a lot of studies on this. I found a couple of studies they did online. Too technical for me. If the results were not positive, they stop them.

I guess I should have been more detailed with my reply above. I'm sure it varies from stream to stream or even sections of a given stream but I have to wonder how much the water temperature continues to rise until sunset and drop overnight during the closure hours.:unsure:

I saw that ,pretty common for the park . In all the years I have fished the lower Madison , I only remember one year they put it on hoot owl , probably have been more .
