Life of the Party
I know that there was a prior thread about this, but I could not find it. Here is the NY Times article on the issue. Personally, I thought the proposal was so goofy that it would never get anywhere, but who knows. Where I live in NH, a proposal like this would be laughed at, at best

It's been discussed at length in a few threads now. As someone in Oregon who has out of state friends send me articles and texts about this daily, I'm tiring of it if I'm honest. It's being laughed at. It's a nothing burger. But "news" thrives on rage bait and clicks so they keep hyping it up.

It starts small and becomes a total ban. It's like gun control the antis just keep chipping away. This is how it starts.....In cali June 2026, the California Fish and Game Commission unanimously approved emergency regulations to restrict shark fishing and improve beach safety all pushed by "shark stewards" with no public input. The restriction to protect white sharks while completely disregarding the other sharks. It bans large hook size and wore leaders. This will cause fishermen to use smaller hooks and perhaps gut hook sharks and increase mortality. Ban in wire leaders means a shark breaks off the mono and gets to swim around with a hook and mono length of line instead of being landed and humanely released with no fishing gear attached. It's the usual suspects controlling your behavior.

Sorry guys use the other thread. We don't need yet another one. And my personal comment and response period on the matter is long expired.
