Only one 3-4 inch Rainbow today. My first fish with the beautiful 4wt I bought from @Wetswinger , first fish on a bobber, and first fish using felt soles. Man are they a gamechanger when it comes to feeling stable in the water.
Is the 4wt glass, or graphite?
Agreed on the felt soles. I won't fish rivers without them. They are very slippery on snow, though.
And if you wear them in the mud, you’re sure to fall on your ass.

Felt with small studs all day. Will be falling on my ass in mud, snow, leaves and whatever else, but not in the riffle.
Or wet long grass on a hill, or dry fir / hemlock needles on a hill, oh that’s a bad one.
Oh yeah the fine silty layer on the top of a mud patch, recipe for a Benny Hill skit.
Love ‘em in the crick though.

Took a chance on the Cedar today before it warmed up plus I got the chance to catch up with a good friend. Good first trip with lots of healthy fish to the net. Forced myself to use streamers the whole time which paid off. I've typically have only used dry flies on this river. Feel like I've cracked the code a bit using streamers plus the sizes of fish were way bigger than I usually catch here. Went down there with zero expectations but to just catchup on life with my bud. Between the two of us we landed 16 fish with a handful of long distance releases. Lost one really nice chunker.
This section of river was in great shape for this time of year. I imagine soon enough it'll change with all the visitors and party goers.
Afternoon bonus was finding a taco truck right before hopping onto the 405. 10/10 would do that again. Pic below for reference.

Olive sculpzilla gave me my best SRC session in a few years Saturday morning. It’s a sculpy time of year.

Good to know because that’s what I mostly fish for year round. Never considered using one for SRC’s.
Went today for my first trip to the Cedar this year - One robust whitefish, a ~12" rainbow to hand and missed a couple of others. Euro-nymphing the deeper holes with a caddis pattern. Need to explore other places than Landsburg... The winter floods really did rearrange the furniture out there.
