Snow Shred Season 2025 - 2026

Sad day today. Word went out the local hill's last day for public service will be 4/12, 3 weeks early. What a messed up Winter. I hope Summer won't be a disaster.

Golden lining. It's prime Springer and ditchpickle fishing. Pike$minnow season is opening early again.

Might have to give the whole Capr thing a shot. There a definitely enough of the fat barbled bastards around. Been watching drag and drop videos. I can do this.
Sad indeed, Bluewood canceled tomorrow's bash so we're done here also.

I saw that. They’ve had a tough season and I hope it is better for them next year. New owners are investing in the resort and they need a couple of good seasons. White Pass has been fortunate this year with a bit more snow and decent conditions. Yesterday was great with 6 inches of fresh powder, 18 degrees at the top, and sunshine. Snow was “squeaky” in the morning walking up to the lift. Skied with my BIL and good friend. Wore myself out! The recent warm temperatures and rain dropped their snow levels considerably but we hit a brief respite. So far, there is snow in the forecast next week. Maybe one more day or maybe I should go fishing….

Crystal was actually pretty good today. Smooth fast groomers in the morning transitioning into surfy slush by mid afternoon. Very variable and mostly not great stuff off the main runs, but it’s still skiable if you are good at avoiding rocks and stumps. That might be a wrap for this terrible season, though there is snow in the forecast…

Timely bump as I just had knee surgery yesterday! 🗡️🦵🤕🧑‍⚕️🩼

I will not be checking in for Snow Shred Season 2026 - 2027 which will be my first skipped winter in 30 years, but I’m very excited for the consolation prize of a season in Baja.

No just work the PT and plan to ski! 45 years ago, I broke a tibial spine, pcl acl and medial meniscus on a mogul run in february had crude surgery of the 1980's and was skiing lightly on it by November of the same year!

All these ski years later I have just discovered SkiMo and love the challenge. I had the best end of season in Mammoth last month ended the weekend using skimo gear in the resort and last day was on 1.5 feet of fresh powder! I'm heading back to Mammoth to fish and pick up my "Scarpa 4-quattro pro" boots from the mountaineering shop. I can't wait until 26/27 season comes. El Nino is back and it could be a good winter.

El Niño years tend to suck in the PNW because Mammoth gets all of our snow! ;) I’m following dr and pt orders and am not going to push my recovery. They say I could likely be back skiing in chill mode by the end of next season but the thought of festering in the darkness wo the main thing that makes it worthwhile is not ideal. Plus, the gal and I figured we’d never have this opportunity to take a whole winter off from our “normal” if it wasn’t for this injury.

One door closed for a while and countless others open. Or, as snowboarding legend Jeremy Jones once said “never waste a good injury!”
