If you're indicator fishing and it results in the same number of tugs on the line as just watching grass grow, then I suggest you may be doing it wrong and might want to change things up.Watching grass grow is no fun either...

And kinda shallow water for an indicator....I used to hate it, but one of my buddies was really effective at it and got me into it. It is at the forefront of my bag of tricks but weather, water conditions and fly patterns dictate usage. Especially effective in rough water. Fished yesterday ,1/2 of the fish netted were on the indicator. the balance on stripped streamers.View attachment 183110
Thank you! wade fishing stillwater in the spring with an indicator. Unbelievably effectiveMGM, that's one heck of a fish![]()
Your right, but I couldn't keep them in the net, so they had to swim to shore for their photo. Actually only about 3 1/2 ' bottom fly to indicator. Wade fishing shallow rocky shoal in 25 mph wind. And kinda shallow water for an indicator....
I usually lose track of my count by about 10.I like the simplicity and precision of a slip bobber setup; once I set the depth, I know what I’m getting. In comparison, counting down sinking lines feels random.
