SFR Superstitions?

Sorta fishing-related
I'm not superstitious but I do know a couple of facts that I have gained from experience:

1) no one in your fishing group should ever, ever say "well at least it can't rain any harder", because it will.

2) no one should ever say that catching Yellowstone Cutts with dry flies is too easy because the result of that is no fish caught for the rest of the day.

Never say the "W" word.. while fishing or not!

I'm not superstitious. I just have certain habits. I always wear my lucky fishing hat. And I always lace up my wading boots in the order I put them on. And I always turn my reel handle a certain way. And I always begin my fishing day singing to myself paraphrasing Janis Joplin with, "Oh Lord, won't you give me, a bright steelhead . . ." Fortunately I don't have any superstitions.

Better the song by Janis than "Dead skunk in the middle of the road" . . .

Crewed on a seiner and the captain wouldn’t allow any women on board. Said they were bad luck, worse than bananas 😂

I always say, “thanks friend” when releasing a fish. I stay quiet when bonking a salmon but have a “thanks friend” vibe about me…which is more important than the words in my opinion.

I’ve also considered saying “thanks friend for the future turd” but have not to hatchery salmon. I mean, let’s be honest, that’s super disrespectful and bad karma in general…

Just don't fish on a seiner, and you should be fine.

BTW, there was a guy that ran a seiner in the area we fished that year (mid '70's) with an all woman crew. They were impressive and did exceptionally well. Proved our skipper wrong.
Good chance the skipper’s luck with and/or in the company of ladies was more of a personal issue.
