Very sad day…..

Not pleasant at all went through it 13 years ago after 37 years. It is things in life that change you for the better… really!
Wait I forgot- forgot that today I tend to whine more about too many things … she said. I asked for a rating today while on the phone trying to straighten out my perscription services on a health coverage change. Jeanne rated me a 5. That is an improvement on the complaining scale. So that too can improve. Jeanne is a great behavioral example. She is so patient , it is remarkable! My patience level has evolved to a measurable number now.

Well crappy update….this one mechanical, not mental. With maybe two test miles on my 99.5% completed Hotrod….my second time rebuilt turbo 400 tranny crapped out big time. It wasn’t happy when the shop test drove it a couple of weeks ago, so I had to have it towed back to the transmission shop where it still sits today. When Dewey pulled the pan, lots of metal shavings in it. Not good…..at first they thought it was the torque converter, so I ordered another because the other brand new one was only warranted for one year. Even though I tried to explain that the truck was only ready to drive a few weeks ago, no go. So now with $700 between the two converters, I hoped that would fix it. Wrong! All kinds of shit was broken inside the tranny. Seemed like a 10,000 rpm launch…..but I know the shop didn’t do that. Seems like the Hotrod gods are trying to keep me off the streets. Good thing it’s only money….yeah right. So still no big smile on my face yet…..hopefully soon.

Oh man, that sucks. I'm hoping you get the problems resolved quickly and the truck on the road, so you can terrorize the streets of Burien.

Sometimes tranny guys only think tranny and not what it is connected to. I have no clue of your conditions that lead up to rebuild or the grenade but make sure the tranny guys are hot flushing the old cooler lines and cooler. Any past metal there will make it to the new tranny and eat it. Also, if the previous tranny blew up it is best to replace cooler and lines to guarantee there is no metal left to make it's way back to the new rebuild. If everything is clean then the new failure is rebuild error. Also never reuse an old torque converter from a failed tranny because those metal pieces and old atf can't be purged from the old converter.

HEY-HEY! Pretty darn good day today….I cruzed around 50 miles today on side roads in my Hotrod! Lots of thumbs up and had to tell the history of the truck quite a few times. Biggest longest lasting smile on my face for a helluva long time! Felt really good…..still some issues to fix but “on the road again!” Only 48+ years since I drove it….literally driving down memory lane!! When it’s finished, I’ll start a new thread with more pictures, here’s what it looks like today.

I think the first ‘ride’ I bought for myself 50 years ago was the same color…only mine was a Schwinn Varsity 😎

Very nice…..truly an awesome ride 👍
