Early Signs of Spring

My sure sign we are just a week away from "spring" is the Red Winged Blackbirds show back up and SIGN like crazy!!

Also, the warm weather last year the first frog songs have been heard!
We were in moses lake for a hockey tournament over the weekend - took my boys to RF (they'd never been). My oldest commented several times about how cool the red wing blackbirds were. They were very active and really vocal.

I hiked through some of the shrub steppe country a bit south of RF yesterday and could hear meadowlarks calling; one of my favorite spring birds.

I've been seeing a bunch of squirrels running around these past couple warmer days (into the high 30's and sunny) in Western NY. I'm just looking forward to the snow melting off some of the local running/walking paths over the next week.

Yeah it’s cooled off again for now but we are still trudging towards Spring. Stinging nettle is up. Too many dogs walk by here for me to harvest these ones, though.

Went out to take the pup for a walk this afternoon here in PA and there were about 2 dozen robins scrounging around in the front garden. The first of the year. I'm hoping they know something I don't know.

A deep hunger for live worms?

Where in PA - if you are in the most Eastern quarter, gonna stop looking like spring for the next couple of days:
