Winter Olympics 2026

Life of the Party
Who's watching? What's your favorite sport? What country you got for the most medals?

I spent a good chunk of my life trying to get to the Olympics and really enjoy watching all these top of their sport athletes. Watching the best of the best compete in something they spent most of their lives preparing for is high drama! I really dig trying to dive into the small details of each sport. Some of them look simple but I guarantee there is so much more to it. Remember, fly fishing just looks like lobbing hooks into the water to the average person.

While I enjoy the mainstream sports, I really enjoy watching the niche sports on the odd channels. These are people who probably have regular jobs(or soon will) who have dedicated themselves to represent their country. Most of them will only get to do it once at best.

A good distraction from current world events if there ever was one...

Can't wait for curling! OK, and maybe some skiing and skating.
I love curling, it's really fun! Used to do it at the Granite Curling Club on 130th. Looking forward to it also. So many of my favorite pastimes involve water, frozen or running.

You name it, biathlon (how they slow their heart rate, or maybe overcome it to shoot, amazing), X-country skiing, of course alpine skiing (grew up chasing the National Team), CURLING!!!! (Go Canada), love the speed skating, especially long-track (Francesca Lollobigida, Gina's great niece, won gold in the 3000m), luge, skeleton and bobsled, the medal rounds for hockey (GO CANADA) ...

The best of all is when the unexpected come out of nowhere, ...

Cheers

Though I don't remember the last time I saw 2:30 AM except perhaps while on a plane trying to sleep on the way to Norway or New Zealand I believe I will set an alarm to get up and watch live coverage of the women's downhill. It could be just too good a story not to see live. Actually it has already been that good a story.

Speed skating is fun to watch, as is the ski jumping.

Biathlon usually zones me in, regardless of the fact that the US has never won an Olympic metal.

The snowboard and ski cross events are wild, freaking love watching the heats and the final.

Shocked to read about her crash this morning. Tough to go back to sleep after seeing that, I bet.

Prayers and good vibes her way

Big game today - US vs Canada in women's hockey - this has come a loooong way in the last dozen years, much like women's basketball, the speed and skill have increased exponentially. Also a great rivalry, maybe even more heated than the men's, likely to foreshadow the final for the gold.

Go Canada!!!!
