What Are You Eating?

I'm making red lentil dal again. After experimenting with grinding my own spices, I found this mix that is 90% as good as making everything from scratch, and so much easier. I add a sweet potato and some coconut cream, and leave out the tomato and soya leaves.

I’ve used these for yrs as the spices are kept in an air tight pouch and any spices sources in Pakistan are way better then the ones stored in my cupboard for yrs. My only beef is that with a couple of the biryani mixes I’ve tried, the cayenne or red chilli is on 11, I love a good spice but these are strong on heat.

Mom made minestrone soup, since I needed a break from cooking and was out all day! Delicious! (Not great photos, but I've sunken into the couch and am watching the national championship!)

Ribs, polenta, rapini

I cooked the ribs sous vide then finished on the grill. Not quite as good as the real deal out of my offset barrel smoker but not too shabby, either. Avoided the “boiled/steamed meat” phenomenon, too. Worth more testing.

Maybe he's ex-CIA! And is using TRAVERS account to distract use from the fine wines and food he cooks and makes...

Never been a chef or worked in a commercial kitchen…just like to eat…
Chef @Brute - I too have wondered about the meals you prepare; they're often (almost always) not what was common table fare for me growing up on a small farm in Sequim. I enjoy seeing the ingredients you use, the prep and the final presentation.
