Jim,
We always referred to them as shit birds, because given the opportunity they’d shit on your boat, car or yourself. I remember going to an appointment downtown in a nice suit when I felt a rather noticeable plop on my shoulder…..😂

I get that! We spent the night on our boat one time up in the Hanford Reach. Sunrise brought a veritable shit storm.

When I worked on prawn trawlers in Mallaig, they were affectionately known as shite hawks. Everytime we hauled gear and dumped it into the sorting pond, hundreds would literally lose their shit. Being head to toe in grundens with your hood up was a must. Covered head to toe. Skipper would hose me down once I’d sorted the catch…

Those were the days 😀

My wife and I took the grandkids to Redondo Beach pier this afternoon. This guy ----^ was watching all the anglers and tourists hoping for someone to drop some bait or........... better yet, steal a fresh caught mackerel. One of the pier anglers, who was fishing a line rigged with multiple hooks reeled in four fish, one of which came off the hook. The pelican was off the roof, on the concrete deck and scooped that mackerel - he might have looked asleep: he wasn't! It was a lot of fun for Jiji, Baba and the grands.

Looks like that Night Heron shi . . ., I mean sits there quite often. 😉

They are pretty birds. During the summer, we are entertained by numerous eagles and ospreys throughout the day on Mason Lake. They like to feed at the top of a big fir by the deck. Unfortunately, they drop a lot of parts and it gets pretty ripe....

Red Tail a long way off. I'd love to have a brighter day . . .

That hawk returned to that same perch several times. I also noticed gulls, Pigeons & Crows on similar lights at that complex yesterday. That and the persistent cool temps & higher humidity we have been experiencing makes me wonder if those photocells generate some heat during the day.
