NFR College Football 2025

Dan Lanning is the James Franklin of Bo Schembechlers...

No one will ever take a team named the ducks seriously. And now we know why.

Mark Cuban 56 - Phil Knight 22
Phil Knight must be a very weird human being.

He owns a team in the West Coast collegiate baseball league. He pours so much money into that team, that they hardly ever lose.

It seems that he must have a Howard Hughes type phobia about losing.

I already feel sorry for the University of Oregon when he dies.

^^^ $$$$$ has ruined football IMHO...

Neither IU nor Miami are in the top 10 NIL budgets for college football.
I believe Indiana has the second highest paid assistant staff in the country….and they are now being funded by Cuban.

I’m a Beav, and I have no love for the ducks. IMO, ducks, along the usc’s, and the lsu’s of the world, are ruining college football.

My point on Indiana is they have money. Cignetti is great, but let’s not act like they are some Cinderella story. Follow the money in college football. That is ALL it is about now.

Are you referring to the Corvallis Knights?
If so, not Uncle Phil’s. 😉

When colleges are trying to RECTRUIT with BIG PAY SUMS i always advise: just buy into the SmartCoin Pyramid Network Triangle. Its a vertical pyramid structure program where you EXPLOIT those below you!!! Big Opportunities within the pyramid!!!

Maybe IU is on to something…buy the best staff you can. Most of the money discussion in regards to college football has revolved around buying a roster of players.

IU is not in the top 10 of money spent on players but it sounds like you’re saying they have paid their coaches well.

Look at the average age and experience of Indiana’s roster. Most of the starters are 5th and 6th year guys and about 23 years old.
They also have very few 5 star recruits.
Cignetti has built much of his roster based getting their experience elsewhere then coming to IU via the portal. He brought a lot of his JMU players with him last year.
Yes, he does recruit HS players but the transfer portal formula of recruiting that he is using works very well for him. Players gain experience at the expense of other schools then transfer to IU. It’s a great way to turn a program around quickly as he has proven. Great coaching obviously plays into their success as well.

Having a complete staff working in lock-step towards a common goal with consistency year in and year out produces a long-term 'product' of winning IMHO. Coach, OC, DC, STC, WRC, and support staff all working in lock-step sets an identity and level of expectations. Pay the coaches well so that there is not a 'Black Monday' for the team every year. The players know what to expect, what is expected of them, and what they are buying into. One does not need the best talent but rather a player that is playing at his best and continues to improve. If a player or coach wants something else, play or coach somewhere else.

Well that's two years in a row we've had a great year followed by a bad beating in the playoffs. Maybe 3rd time will be the charm. According to common folklore we have all sorts of money so we should be back. Still proudly wearing my Duck shirt! GO DUCKS !!

rather "Aunt Penny's" 😉
  • Team: Corvallis Knights, playing in the West Coast League (a college summer wood-bat league).
  • Sponsorship: Penny Knight, Phil Knight's wife, is the sole sponsor and a driving force behind the team.
  • History: The Knights Baseball Club was founded by the Segel brothers, with Penny Knight providing significant support, helping them become a successful franchise.
  • Phil Knight's Involvement: Phil Knight is a major benefactor for Oregon sports, but Penny Knight's involvement with the Knights baseball team is more direct.
Why did I look this up????

I saw an article on MSN about the possibility of the Hoosiers hacking into the cloud to see the plays by other teams...I could not see the original article by HEAVY.

It will be interesting to see how many IU staff will stay on board. Also find it interesting that JMU did so well this year even after losing some of the IU head coach tag-a-longs!

Didn't his wife run the team??? See first sentence on team history.

https://corvallisknights.com/tradition/team-history/

I did learn one thing from following the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League and that is having money and more importantly a good management team running it is more important than the players that change every year.

I suspect that is also the near term future of college football. College football outcomes are going to be just as boring as Major League Baseball for the next few years.

BUT, what I really don't understand is WHY the University of Oregon, a public institution, is PAYING the Disney Corporation to continue having Donald Duck walk the sideline. I do know for a FACT, that there are other duck species in Oregon other than Donald!!!
