I think you are correct. Between his family, namely his dad from what I’ve seen and one particular influencer (think Tennessee QB drama), he got some terrible advice.
I personally love the principle of his agent dropping him. He learned some hard lessons and ate some humble pie. This will be his last year as a Husky, you can pretty much guarantee that.
There obviously needs to be some standardized NIL guidelines, but I’m not sure the weak NCAA is up to that task. They are basically worthless at this point.
The other thing that needs to happen is some regulations over who can represent college players. As of today, anyone on this board or their wife, mom or kids could be an agent. From what I understand, there is also no cap what a person can make for representing a college player on a NIL contract. Some college coaches have commented on the ridiculous contract asks when players are represented by family members.
No regulation on agents is going to bring out some serious scumbags and players will get taken advantage of.
Regulation probably can’t happen unless the players organize, but look what is required to be a NFL player agent. Something like this would weed out a lot of the bad representation.
