Are fly fishing magazines a thing again?

Pre internet I subscribed to a number of them and was always excited when a new one came in the mail.
Even though they made many generous subscription offers over the years they seem to have become more ads than content.
Like @RCF mentioned, Youtube and the internet in general usually covers anything I might want to know.

I like the Drake and Fly Fish Journal for being able to tell me about things I didn’t know I wanted to know about, and in an artful and creative way. Those mags don’t repeat the same articles, not even close. The other mags do, though.
I also appreciate a respite from digital everything including the tech companies’ algorithms about what content to serve up, which seems to be dumbing everything and everyone down.

I think The Drake still kicks out some solid journalism.
Otherwise, PNWFF fills the void for me. I'd rather read about @DimeBrite going somewhere and posting a bunch of pictures he took vs some random author.

I agree with Evan The Drake is the only Mag that I keep getting.
I guess I need to start a Kickstarter for you all to contribute to my fishing trip fund which will allow me to post exciting trip reports to PNWFF in a much more regular manner than I am able to currently. I'm not just some random author, after all, and don't you think we need to spread the burden around? It wouldn't be fair to impose more responsibility on @DimeBrite . I'm here, ready to step up.

I think your role as a local correspondent is well suited to you.
i enjoyed fly fishing the west. it often had short articles about fishing in various western states. i used a referenced outfitter out of cle elum (three peaks) to take helen and i into the alpine wilderness - and it was a great trip
Fly Tyer is the only fishing mag I ever subscribed to. I still sometimes go through my stack to look up patterns. Their website has some good tying articles online, e.g.: https://www.flytyer.com/16-favorite-caddisflies/

Bit by bit, over the years I've let all my subscriptions lapse. The last one was when Flyfishing the West automatically slid all subscriptions over to Flyfishing America. That was a cheap shot, and I let that one lapse. The comments about article topic repetition are true, which is understandable, given that there are a finite number of rivers and lakes we'd care to read about. And then annual rod shoot out articles that are so close to useless hardly qualifies as material content. I suppose magazines can still be useful to novices while they are learning the basics.
