Hilariously overpriced used item listings around the internet

I always am amused at people way, way over-valuing what they're selling. I get some may have sentimental value which inflates things in their mind, but that doesn't mean the buyer's going to know or care about any of that.

Then you just have the hard-headed "I KNOW WHAT I HAVE!" ones who just plain enjoy being willfully ignorant about the used market.

While I see things every day looking on Ebay, Craiglist, and Marketbplace, never thought to make a thread for us to share our similar findings. This ancient Garmin inspired me to get that going this morning.

I bet you'd have a hard time getting $27.50 for this thing. Especially considering you can get one of the newer small Striker units on the used market for about that price. From around 2007/2008, no navigation, no chirp, crappy display (and this one looks especially problematic on that part).

Valid. I'm more referring to used market stuff. The guy who thinks he's selling the world's greatest _______ and wants new prices for it.

This describes 99% of the boats I’m looking at on the used market.

Sorry pal, your beat to shit 1982 Evinrude w/ 2000 hours (or better yet, “unknown hours but runs like new!”) is not worth $10k.

Starts right up! Excellent condition!

I feel like the vast majority of listings that say "excellent condition" are anything BUT.
 
Hands down, I've got to agree it's the used boat market and it's been that way for as long as I can remember. I sometimes wonder just how upside down these boaters are in their loans. Or if they really think that their choice of aftermarket accessories carries any value to a prospective buyer.

"Yep dude, that's what I was hoping to find, an overpriced boat with a bunch of useless aging junk that will get tossed, leaving holes I get to patch and suspect wiring that will have to get yanked."

Which ranks right up with the seller's statement - "I've got all the paperwork" - which if true, will be in someone else's name and address.

"Vintage" will get you only so far at least on Etsy's picks for fishing nets ($1299.99), "Antique" on the other hand will set you back $1800...better hurry because there is only one left and one on someone's cart already.
