Show Us Your Humpies !!!

At first glance I thought that was your anchor. Please tell me that's only your ballast and not an anchor. 😁

I'm going to try and pull out of the driveway by 4:30 or so to hit the Duw tonight. Hopefully you left some for me!

There is a gym weight and an anchor. The anchor is currently deployed only as ballast, being mummified in straps and all.

Today I did bring an anchor, but the anchor I use out there is a rock. I didn't deploy the rock anchor today, though.

They seemed slightly less grabby today. I switched to a smaller and less flashy but still hot pink fly and that got fishy nibbles, but they were being a little bit choosier. The fish were everywhere though.

Those are a little ways up river in the Mighty D estuary. To get there from the scenic environs depicted there on the cover of Metal Child, you have to either run the gauntlet going under the Spokane Street bridge, in this case that means running directly into the onslaught of jigs, buzz bombs and other generally Communist tackle being tossed in your direction, or go back out in the bay and around up the west waterway on the other side of Harbor Island. It’s a long way and can mean some good sized swell and chop. Going into that maelstrom being tossed off the bridge though, it’s like some Braveheart stuff. You trust in the goodness of humanity, but you also see what we’re working with.
It usually works out. Not for the faint of heart, though.

It is a different, but also harrowing experience going under the bridge downriver heading out into the humperdome. You have to pick a slot through the pilings that doesn’t have a hanging basket net blocking it already, and hope that you can pause long enough while nosing your way out and yelling up to the characters on the bridge for mercy, that the ones without malice in their hearts, and the skill and wherewithal to do so, can reel up and not snag your stuff. I get a knife ready before I do this. I have had to use it. That joker should’ve known better, but nope he tried to get cute and snagged my stuff. I cut his stuff off and tossed it back to him. Can’t we all just get along?

All the barbs are pinched on the treble tied in in front of the weight so we’re good, right?
LOL that thing is an absolute beast. Can you post a SBS? You should also get to name it. Incredible that the single hook is not de-barbed but the treble is!

I tried to get AI to generate a 7 fingered child but that apparently is crossing a line. I was thinking "Concrete Osprey" could be a good follow up album but "Acolyte" looked more metal in the font and "Apocalypse" was taking it too far plus it ate up too much font space. I kind of like thinking that all pulled shifts at Nucor at one time or another, and always hung out at a share house on SW Yancy. Plus, they were actually fucking legit good...and the used to be friends with Mudhoney before they "sold out..."

Can you spot the osprey in this crappy cel phone pic?

The lore is that during the recording of Acolyte they all lived in that now abandoned brown diagonal-wood sided abode under the rail bridge on the left bank of the west waterway. I don’t have a pic of that place but I do have one of the other Metal Child and some nice light. IMG_4804.jpeg

Well, sounds like I was upriver from Matt so still some fish left. 😁 I agree, they were not great biters tonight. I found 3 stupid ones though! And man, all 3 pulled so friggin hard. The biggest went straight down in a deep part of the channel and doubled my 8wt. I was relieved I didn't suffer with the 6wt.
I kept all 3 since they all had sea lice and looked pretty fresh. All smallish bucks. Plenty of fish moving thru from about 7:00 to 8, but not as bitey as usual. I had a couple huge schools move thru and not a touch. Really weird. I wonder if the barometric stuff is messing with them. I also had a damn seal following me for over 30 minutes. That puts the damper on things. He came VERY close to my 1st fish and then wouldn't go away. Saw him chasing a pretty big buck that probably went 7 or 8 pounds.

Anyway, just got done washing everything off and cleaning 3 slimy pinks. They'll go on the Traeger manana.

I'm in the gang now. 😁

So you are saying this could be a person rather than a humpy getting slung over the rail at Spokane St on the Golden D? 😂

Yes, I believe fuzzy cranes that look like Lego sets are 100% acceptable.

You always were. All those who dare defy danger and dampen their dungarees by drinking deeply a draft of Duwamish, are in the gang.

Incidentally, forming a gang is also a simple form of self preservation down there.

Nice work. I hope they get grabby again. It’s too early for them to go stale.

Doesn't Leonard "Fuzzy" Crane play bass for Strapped-In?
Well Fuzzy did but From Seattle Times obit:

"Fuzzy was born in Georgetown, went to school in South Park, lived in Delridge, Played bass for Strapped In, never- to his credit- played for Metal Child, worked on and off at Easy Street, and died in Georgetown...he did everything the right way" said his step-brother Duff McKagen

Maybe webbed fingers and pointed ears ?

There were a lot of pretty stale pinks up above the South Park bridge yesterday. Also a lot of crusty chinook and a surprising number of chrome bright lockjawed coho. I got half a dozen in about an hour, then broke a rod by being a dumbass, which really slowed things down.

Note that nets go in on Sunday, probably on the usual Sunday noon thru Friday noon schedule. Get out there while you can!
