Show Us Your Humpies !!!

Please, please don't eat humpy hens! Iced down or not they taste awful. If you have to eat humpy, bonk large bright humpy bucks from beaches far away from any fresh water estuaries. They are best brined and smoked.
I gotta disagree, just ate a bright humpy hen and it tasted great with the previously posted fish fry and a curry recipe. I agree with you when they hit the rivers though. I don't even mean "good for a humpy", I mean good period. Throwing on seasoning seems to make the mild flavor more appreciable.

I foul hooked 2 fish yesterday, out in the Bay, using the fly shown above. Fish were not all that dense so I was surprised. I think they may have been swiping at it with their tails. Or maybe aggressively refusing it. In any case, I noticed it was riding on its side sometimes, for some reason. Kinda surprising with the dumbbell eyes. I have about three dozen similar flies so I switched it out. The new one swam better.

Caught a humpy buck this morning and lost three others. I didn't touch it, so my hands stayed clean. Most schools stayed well off the beach, a few strayed into casting range and clamped down on the fly.

What I want to know is, was it fun hooking those slimers, or does the humpy energy radiate up the line, into your hands and brain and ruin it all for you?

It was pleasing to hook some salmon, but I was not overly aroused. My hands did not require disinfectant.

Now there's some Hot Humpy Action...
🙂

Sometimes if your leader or line touches the Humpy they startle and all kinds of Humpy Hell can break loose, leading to hooks attaining purchase in various parts of the Humpy.
It happens....

CFX reels. Don’t think they got their fair shake. Might have been a reel during ownership transition. I know I got it dirt cheap off sierra I think. 🤔 My M3 in for repair. This reel not used but purchased 7-8 years ago. The backup up mighy be better ???
