2025 Tuna and Exotics

I've been in contact with @Nick Clayton who has been doing salmon trips, where he'll be for another week or so before getting to switch to tuna.

He's been getting into some interesting catches that I hope he has a chance to drop by and share. I hope I find some similar bycatches tomorrow.

While I have some expensive gear, I don't have any lures even close to the regular retail on this thing.

Wonder if @Nick Clayton has any experience with them?
Would be surprised.... Like most charter captains, Nick does most of his tuna fishing with pieces of yarn he stole from his wife and left over octopus hooks he found abandoned on the dock during salmon season..

@Evan B how far out do you think you’ll need to go?

that is one seriously flat ocean!

Might make good crab bait? Or maybe yeller jacket chunks? It would be a shame to waste the poor mutant thing....

.... OK, just over loaded my sarcasm processor. Truth is a BFT outta the 2025 gate is basically a mic drop. You can stop fishing now.
I told my friend yesterday that I had a Dorado and yellowtail. Only needed a BFT to finish my punch card. So I got one. Punch card complete.

I did manage some tuna with proper long fins as well.

That bluefin looks just right for a 12 weight. I’m awfully curious about your program that caught it, and if there’s any way a fly could’ve also worked out there…for BFT.
Very very rad and cool catch!
